Great goal

By Merlion
November 7 2016

What a brilliant Arsenal goal, Wimmer gave the keeper no chance with his curling header. Excellent, Giroud could learn a thing or too.

It was, at times, a retrogression to Crab Football, clueless and same old slow build-up from the back with numerous back-passes with a late slip by Cech trying to get onto a poorly-weighted back-pass.

Crosses were awful as if daily practices were done with a line of hobbits instead of 6-footer defenders (and got even worse with Giroud to aim at).

But the biggest error of judgment was fielding Alexis as a centre-forward who was never inside the box and a callow youth in Alex Iwobi who is off-form and has been for the past few weeks, misplacing 3 passes in first 15 minutes; and confidence shaken more by groans from the stadium. Iwobi telegraphed his passes, easily intercepted and was never a factor at left-flank, struggling against Tiny Totts players.

A Tiny Totts defence that had only 5 league goals scored against them surely deserved more respect than fielding Alexis as centre-forward who was easily pushed out of the box. Apparently, Ozil got more shots at goal than Alexis, and maybe even Walcott.

Overall, it showed up Wenger as a coach, and also reinforced many Arsenal fans that we will never win another title under Arsene Wenger even if he had purchased Pique, Busquets, Messi, Neymar and Suarez in summer 2016.

6 - Cech - a decent outing who kept us in the game.

7 - Bellerin - an attacking threat and improving his defensive attributes every week.

5 - Koscielny - Make one wonder that he missed Mertesacker's calmness, organizational ability and muscle in the box? Surely it was dumb to stick out a foot in the box when Dembele - and not Aguero or Costa - was surrounded by FOUR Arsenal players?

5 - Mustafi - errors are creeping into his game and all over the place including running into Coquelin.
7 - Monreal - impressive and reading the game well.

6 - Xhaka - read game well, tidy, good interception and pass the ball well.
6 - Coquelin - adequate but just a mediocre midfielder.

5- Iwobi - missed an open goal also see comments above

7 - Ozil - just no link-up plays with Forward-3 and got no changes against 8-man defence that closed up all passing channels.

5 - Alexis - awful and what every manager knew, frustrated him and he will just drift out of the box. He slowed down attacks by taking too many touches and taking on too many players from east-to-west rather than north-to-south.

5 - Walcott - MIA and just not in the game.

Sub:
5 - Giroud - make no difference and poor link-up with Ozil, Alexis and Walcott.
5 - Ramsey - ring rust and just not in the game. Need few more games to get back match sharpness.
0 - OX - wtf is he doing in the game? He failed to grasp this opportunity to impress and poor body language in showing his passion and commitment. A poor Iwobi is way better than a passionless OX. He should just f**k off in the summer to forge a new career elsewhere.

0 - Arsene Wenger - clueless, did not heed the warning from Leicester City, Burnley and Boros games where any well-organized defensive unit can render Iwobi-Alexis-Walcott toothless and firing blank. You can have all your 60% to 70% possession you want as long as your final ball is easily intercepted.

Wenger gets it wrong when it matters more often than not, problem is he has signed too many adequate players rather than push the boat outHe has stayed loyal to players who continue to let him down its a fault that has bitten him many times.I am no longer surprised or upset when we continually come up short it's expected.
