OSPINAAA!!! MotM and player ratings v PSG

We really have got away with one there. PSG got off to a great start with a goal after 42 seconds and continued to cut us open time and time again for 90 minutes with our midfield being completely dominated and overran.

Fortunately for us, PSG, and Edinson Cavani specifically, missed a number of sitters while David Ospina was in inspired form. We rode our luck and managed to escape with a point after Alexis's well taken equaliser.

A number of talking points from this one. Monreal is struggling. Playing Coquelin as our main driving force will only expose his limitations, we don't need to see it ever again. Cazorla was completely dominated. Ozil was awful, but it was his excellent ball that led to our equaliser. Oxlade-Chamberlain was poor yet again. Alexis was struggling up front but was immediately better out wide. Yet again our lack of a focal point up front left us toothless in attack, but Giroud came on again and helped changed the game somewhat.

Football isn't complicated. PSG's players seemed to run so much more off the ball than us, whilst we're so static.

Ospina - 8. Four good stops in the second half, even if one of them came after he gave the ball away.

Bellerin - 6. Alright defensively but wasn't able to get forward as much. Did excellently to put Marquinhos off right at the end.
Mustafi - 7. Solid and good playing out from the back, looking like a good signing already.
Koscielny - 7. Solid bar one moment when he was shrugged off the ball
Monreal - 5. No answer for Aurier's pace and power. Looked a bit better in the second half but not playing well at the moment.

Coquelin - 5. Tried to deliver but was forced to play as our main penetrative force, for some reason, and this only exposed his limitations. He's a good ball-winning midfielder, not an attacker.
Cazorla - 3. Complete irrelevance today.

Oxlade-Chamberlain - 4. Failed to deliver anything positive, yet again.
Ozil - 5. Anonymous first half but some improvement in the second. Showed his quality with a great ball to Iwobi in the build up to Alexis's equaliser.
Iwobi - 5. More effective than Oxlade-Chamberlain but not his best performance either. Missed two good chances.

Alexis - 7. I've said it time and time again, but he just isn't what this team needs up front. Isolated and often too deep in the first half, immediate improvement with him out wide and Giroud up front. Great finish for his equaliser.

Subs:

Giroud - 6. Just like against Southampton, he came on and gave us a much-needed focal point and a physical presence up front. Must start against Hull. Sending off was absolute bullsh*t.
Xhaka - N/A. Nothing of note.
Elneny - N/A. Not on long.
