So Boring Player Ratings Cech MotM

I may have been generous with my ratings against West Brom, but I didn't get the chance to be today! A performance we see far too often. Bar a decent spell of Sunderland pressure at the start of the second half, we dominated possession, didn't create enough with it, and always looked flaky at the back. Two big penalty calls in the first half, otherwise an uneventful game. We're so boring to watch.

As I've said a lot this season, you can have your hundreds of passes, you're controlling the game and dictating the play, but at the end of the day it's goals that win games. Goals can even cover up bad performances, but we cannot score. We need a finisher.

One thought. We were actually scoring and doing well with the promising Welbeck-Iwobi partnership, so I don't really understand why we've suddenly broken that up. Most strange.

Ratings

Cech - 7. Busier than he should've been, but did it all well. Off his line quick a few times, particularly in the first half.

Bellerin - 6. Okay bar one awful defensive header in the first half.
Mertesacker - 5. Struggled with Defoe's movement.
Koscielny - 6. Okay.
Monreal - 6. Okay. Crossing poor when he got forward in the first half. Didn't get forward as much in the second half.

Elneny - 6. Ran a lot and controlled the game well enough, but we needed more creativity.
Ramsey - 6. Ditto Elneny.

Alexis - 6. Bright spark in the first half. Had an excellent free kick well saved. Not as influential in the second half.
Ozil - 5. Really struggled to influence himself on the game today.
Iwobi - 5. Not his best performance today. End product let him down.

Giroud - 4. In his defence he got really poor service today, but when he did get on the ball he was appalling. Slow, laboured and motionless.

Subs:

Walcott - 5. Put three cracking crosses into the box. Did nothing else.
Welbeck - 5. Ran about more than Giroud but little impact.
Wilshere - N/A. Not on long, but great to see him back.
