Arsenal Fans Wish Wenger Well and Farewell Player Ratings

Given our team selection, you saw it coming a mile off. We were always going to struggle with Carroll and balls into the box, but that didn't make it any less frustrating. We threw away a 2-0 lead, but did show character to hang on and make it 3-3. Our 0.000000000000001% chance of winning the league is gone now, all we can hope now is that Tottenham don't win it, and we can finish above them.

Look at that West Ham side though. They can mix it up. They possess a number of creative, technically gifted flair players, but also have a number of big destroyers, while we're so one dimensional. They started with a 3-5-2 and switched formation when it wasn't working from a defensive point of view, while we just persist with the same thing regardless of whether it is working or not.

Ratings:

Ospina - 6. I can't really fault for him any of Carroll's goals unless I'm being picky, and he made a couple of decent saves in the second half, but Cech should have started.

Bellerin - 5. Quick on the counter but poor defensively. Helpless when Carroll towered over him to score his third
Gabriel - 5. Comfortable first half before suddenly going to pieces towards the end. Was dominated by Carroll after that.
Koscielny - 6. Pick of the defenders today as he scored and battled hard. Made some good interceptions but also struggled with Carroll.
Monreal - 5. Poor game. Couldn't pass water in the first half. Struggled with Antonio, particularly on the third goal. Some good crosses in the second half though, and had one cleared off the line.

Coquelin - 5. Battled hard in the first half but the second half passed him by.
Elneny - 6. Thought he dominated much of the first half and kept things ticking with his passing, but struggled to impose himself on the second half as West Ham overloaded the wings.

Alexis - 4. Good finish for his goal but never really in the game. Poor performance in truth. Didn't pull his weight defensively at all either.
Ozil - 6. Worked hard and played well in the first half but faded in the second half. Looked exhausted towards the end.
Iwobi - 7. Two good assists in the first half from the left wing and then moved into central midfield seamlessly in the second half. Great talent.

Welbeck - 5. Ran a lot but to little impact. Probably his worst game since his return from injury. Passing was particularly woeful in the first half.

Subs:

Ramsey - 6. Good cameo. Worked hard defensively and made good runs off the ball.
Giroud - 5. Won some headers but we never really got him into the game.
Walcott - N/A. Did nothing (He did pass ball back to their keeper. Ed)

West Ham 3 Arsenal 3
