Ratings Ozil MotM As Arsenal Bounce Back On The Incontinent*

After our big defeat at the hands of Southampton, it was important we responded strongly, else the psychological effects could've lingered. Having made four changes, and with Saturday's humiliation, probably still in the player's minds, we started slowly without our usual zip and were quite sloppy. Surprisingly, we managed to go one up via a corner and grew into the game after that for a routine victory. I think we showed great character to bounce back immediately. Gabriel was excellent, Chambers did well, Ozil was fantastic. Congratulations to Cech on breaking the clean sheet record. Top of the league, get in!

Cech - 7. Mostly a routine evening for him, bar one good save off Murray towards the end. Buzzing for him beating the clean sheet record though, and so happy he has done it with us. What a goalkeeper, one of the Premiership's best.

Bellerin - 7.5. Solid and used his pace to get forward to some effect.
Mertesacker - 7. After Southampton I was worried about seeing him up against King, and he looked a bit shaky initially, but he grew into the game and did well. Missed a sitter!
Gabriel - 8. Scored, hit the post and defended very well throughout. One particular moment where he showed great pace and desire to track back and tackle King stands out. Impressed.
Gibbs - 7. Solid before going off with cramp.

Chambers - 7. Looked nervous and unsure at the start, but grew into the game and actually played well in the end. Wouldn't fancy him playing there against a big side though, at least for the moment!
Ramsey - 7. Two iffy passes in the first half but otherwise played very well. Always looked to drive us on. He worked his socks off. His engine and ground covering is frightening.

Oxlade-Chamberlain - 7. A bit of a mixed bag at the start but grew into the game. Lots of good driving runs, and some great link up play, notably with Bellerin.
Ozil - 9. His first half was absolutely world class. Played Walcott in three times, got an assist for Gabriel's opener and his corners were bang on. 16 assists already this season. What a player.
Walcott - 7. Could've scored a hat trick in the first half alone, but didn't have a good day in front of goal. Nevertheless, he worked his @#$%& off and got into some great positions.

Giroud - 6. He had absolutely no impact on the first half. He was slightly better in the second half, but it wasn't a good day at the office for the big man. His flicked assist for Ozil's goal was world class though, and brings his rating up by 1!

Subs:

Campbell - 6. Not on long but showed good energy and work rate.
Monreal - N/A. Not on long, got forward well once.
Iwobi - N/A. Not on long.

Edit: forgot to mention Mertesacker's miss!

*Old music hall joke, station announcer: Dover for the continent, Bournemouth for the incontinent
