Ratings Ozil MotM In Tight Victory Over City

Had we been facing City with Coquelin and Alexis in the side, I would've had no doubts about us winning, but tonight I was nervous. Winning would be a massive statement, losing could've potentially meant disaster. This was the big game we were all looking to.

The first half was very tight but we edged it with two excellent goals by Walcott and Giroud. Bar a moment where De Bruyne somehow broke free down our left, I thought we kept things tight and kept our shape brilliantly. We came out in the second half and, as expected, City came at us, but again we kept our shape well and didn't give them much of a sniff. We had two or three really good opportunities but unfortunately didn't take them. Toure scored a worldie goal nobody could've prevented, and it made for a tense finish, but we held on to claim a massive 3 points.

City had some real big name players like Aguero, Silva and Toure who were kept silent, for the most part, by a lot of hard work and excellent defensive play. We have just claimed a massive 3 points off one of our biggest rivals. We have really made a massive statement about our title credentials. Despite our injury crisis, we find ourselves in a great position. This title is there for the taking. Lets go out in January, sign the players we need (a defensive midfielder!!!) and have a strong second half of the season.

Get in!

RATINGS

Cech - 7. Couldn't have done anything about Toure's worldie finish, made everything else he had to do look routine. Gutted he didn't get the clean sheet record on such a fantastic night.

Bellerin - 7. Struggled at times but general improvement on recent weeks. Pace.
Mertesacker - 8. Thought he was fantastic.
Koscielny - 8. Also fantastic. Had Aguero in his pocket all game.
Monreal - 8. Also, also fantastic, though had a tougher time when Navas came on.

Flamini - 7. I can't recall David Silva ever being so quiet. Performed his role very well. Still want us to sign a DM in Jan though.
Ramsey - 8. All the talk pre-game was about how he would do, and personally I thought he was fantastic. Interested to hear what others think. Dominated Yaya Toure for 80 minutes. Should've scored two though.

Campbell - 7. Worked tirelessly and looked good on the ball. Should've scored, but impressed me nonetheless.
Ozil - 9. My Man of the Match. Put on another master class adding two more assist. I feel lucky to be an Arsenal fan with him at his best.
Walcott - 9. Absolute worldie first goal, amazing. Played a big part in the second goal. Worked tirelessly in defensve as well. Very impressed with him tonight.

Giroud - 8. Excellent movement and finish for the second goal. Worked hard and held the ball up well. Top player, proper forward.

Subs:

Gibbs - 5. Looked very nervous but kept things tight down the left.
Oxlade-Chamberlain - 6. Looked good down the middle, quiet on the right.
Chambers - N/A. Not on long.
