Player Ratings v Everton Giroud MotM

October 26 2015

We dominated the first half without really taking Everton to pieces, but scored two good goals late on and should've gone into half time 2-0 up. We allowed Everton to score right at the end of the first half on the counter and this gave them encouragement definite encouragement, which they didn't deserve. The second half was very end-to-end but fortunately we hung on and claimed a well earned three points. We're top of the table until tomorrow at least. Get in. The players are tired after a tough three games and have earned Tuesday off. Rest as many of them as possible for the Sheffield Wednesday game.

Cech - 7. Solid and a calming presence. Great late save off Deulofeu.

Bellerin - 7. Improved as the game went on.
Gabriel - 8. Just like last season, did a great job on Romelu Lukaku.
Koscielny - 8. My second choice for man of the match. At his best throughout.
Monreal - 7. Solid yet again. Kept Deulofeu fairly quiet.

Coquelin - 8. Excellent first half. Slightly less swashbuckling after his booking but still solid.
Cazorla - 8. Superb. Kept things ticking all over the pitch. Great ball in for Koscielny's goal.

Oxlade-Chamberlain - 6. Poor first half and lost the ball for Everton's goal. Much better second half where he was lively and created a few chances.
Ozil - 8. Superb again. Lively and creative. Great ball in for Giroud's goal.
Alexis - 6. Poor first half, better second half. Definitely need to rest him on Tuesday.

Giroud - 8. Fantastic, my man of the match. Linked up well with plenty of good one-twos, scored a deft header and hit the crossbar.

Subs:

Flamini - 6. Certainly involved when he came on.
Gibbs - 6. Looked lively. Won two free kicks.
