Wenger breaks jinx Player Ratings

We were very much the better side in the first half and made a lot of good, quick passing moves. It seemed like we wanted it more and we came in at half time 1-0 up after Oxlade-Chamberlain's excellent finish. We were happy with our lot as Chelsea tried to come at us in the second half, but in truth they were very, very poor. We could've scored more with Giroud, Cazorla and Gibbs all having presentable chances, but we won regardless and that is all that matters.

It is just a glorified friendly, but I'm happy that Wenger has finally broken the Mourinho-jinx, and I also enjoyed seeing them blank one another completely. Hope this gives us confidence to push on and have a great season. Let's bring in some more quality this transfer window.

Cech - 7. He didn't exactly have loads to do but he did it all well. As Gary Neville said, the great keepers make it all look easy.

Bellerin - 5. Not a great showing from the young Spaniard. Poor in possession at times.
Mertesacker - 7. A good, solid showing from the skipper.

Koscielny - 8. My personal man of the match. He was solid, always cleared his lines and mopped up well.

Monreal - 7. Solid defensively performance and he tried to offer something going forward. The best thing about Monreal today was how easily he went down when he got fouled, it won us two or three free kicks.

Coquelin - 8. He was combative, got stuck in and wasn't afraid to foul when needed, and also made a few good passes.
Ramsey - 7. Worked hard, got stuck in, passed and tackled well.

Oxlade-Chamberlain - 8. He terrorised Azpilicueta all game with his pace and power and scored a great goal. I tipped him to have a great season, hope he doesn't let me down.

Ozil - 7. Thought he was great in the first half and involved in a lot of our best quick passing moves. Faded in the second half.

Cazorla - 7. Popped up all over and got involved. Definitely should've scored.

Walcott - 6. Claimed an assist and tried to use his pace, but he wasn't in the game enough for me.

Subs:

Giroud - 6. Looked good as he offered a physical presence upfront and linked up well. Should've scored.

Arteta- 5. Got into an argument with some Chelsea players and did very little else. Not impressed.

Gibbs - 6. Looked lively but really should've scored.
