He mused it couldn't be the World Cup because England had qualified, ha ha a case of "fog in channel Europe isolated". I don't blame him it does seem inexplicable to most fans. What do they care if France or Russia have qualified? No doubt there will also be some useless friendlies to injure our players who have already qualified.
Anyway back to Wolves, it will be the last game for a fortnight, so whatever the result, I suggest the team makes it a good one because we will be stuck with it for 14 days.
Then it's away to Sunderland, a nice easy run out when your players have been subjected to all kinds of risks for a fortnight (not much about Wolves. Editor. I am getting to it. Boris. Well hurry up Editor). But before then its Wolves.
It's a longtime since we played them, well not that long I'll give you a clue, we were invincible and we won home and away. So our last visit to Molineux was a happy one. Wolves have not beaten Arsenal since 1979, and that is a long time, and it includes cup games.
Wolves have not won in six league matches and have drawn their last three. They have only won one of their five league games at Molineux so far this season, beating Fulham 2-1 in September.
If Wolves matches ended at half-time they would be bottom of the Premiership. Do you see what this is leading up to? Yep, if Arsenal matches ended at 75 minutes we would be top of the Premiership. Also reminds me of the fiasco at West Ham where Arsenal threw away a two goal lead. It's important the team concentrate, any win will do, sure we play the beautiful game, but this a McCarthy team, it battles to the very end.
We all know how Arsenal likes to help teams down on their luck, last year they resuscitated a Spurs heading to oblivion. This season it was Zola and West Ham's time for a gift, and how they have enjoyed it. Mind you they didn't like it when Sunderland did the same to them at the weekend, that will teach them to sing Arsenal are cheating when it's them that are the cheats. This time there must be no more gifts, go shred em Gunners.
Meanwhile Wenger is looking forward to a November boost because of the return of Rosicky, Nasri and Walcott, although that has to be balanced by the loss of Bendtner and Clichy. No mention where Vela will be. Though it won't be much of a boost will it? I mean November will be nearly gone with only matches against the Black Cats and the Blue Chavs left in the Premiership.
There will also be a match against Standard Liege to play on the Tuesday 24th. Well abolishing half the fixtures is one way of avoiding the infamous November blip, so perhaps we should be grateful. Never fall for the winter break, imagine the whole of Xmas stuck with family and no football to break the boredom. Ah but the players would get a break - no they wouldn't - they would get a lot of meaningless international friendlies. We need fewer breaks not more.
