It's always brighter before false dawn

Piss in Boots?
By Boris Mellor
December 4 2008
I refuse to treat the adventures of the kids as a meaningful omen on how the present first team will perform. After all when they won 6-0 the first team proceeded to lose 2-1 at home to Hull City. That is not the pattern I am referring to, rather I have in mind beating Bolton away then losing at home.

An even worse example is that of beating Man Utd at home and then losing to Villa at home. I have not felt so depressed by a game in years. We have had so many false dawns this year that one more will make the team a laughing stock.

Last weekend a defeat at Chelsea would have finished off Arsenal's season, it would have been 13 points behind, not 7, a real six pointer. However, without a victory against Wigan it will be yet another waste of time. I suppose I should be confident, but how can you be with a team that is so erratic. A team that cannot motivate itself for the "lesser teams".

If this team cannot raise the level of play it achieves against the big four when playing lesser teams, then the level of play against the bigger teams will drop to that of the lesser.

If the team can't motivate itself, and some of them have as good as admitted that is the case, then Wenger will have to do it for them. Now that is a big challenge, but Arsene must achieve it, if he doesn't then he will be destroyed by the very people he has put his faith in.

Hopefully the appointment of Cesc has overcome the problem of bad morale. I would also like to see a stop put to some the dafter press releases. You know the sort of thing, "teams will have to take us seriously now", no they don't, they will only take Arsenal seriously if they work on hard on the day. A load of pouting prima donnas will convince no one.

I don't give a shyte about what colour boots players wear, as long they don't think it's a pantomime and play piss in boots. Widow Twankey is injured, and Piss in Boots will probably be resting from the exertion of missing three or four one on ones midweek.

Nonetheless it should be a pretty strong line up, so no more mess ups, put your money where your mouth is lads and give us a win.

Not holding my breath, but for a club like ours to have players who cannot motivate themselves,or even be motivated by the manager is poor in the extreme.Maybe we have not got the right players if that is the case.

Always Arsenal, Arsene,and Arshavin

good article, I have a feeling that things will get a bit tougher for Liverpool and Chelsea though over the next month or so

I can see man united wiping the floor with most but the Spuds may get something against them with Ronaldo and evra suspended..

if we can cut that 7 points before we play liverpool at home, things may not look so bad..

agree tho Padre, after we beat the Yanks I was convinced it was the start of something great
