Return of the Badger
Meanwhile Vela continues to commute between here and Mexico, so we are not likely to see him play before October. I think we need him, as RvP is beginning to perturb me, hopefully he is about to prove me wrong, but my feeling is that Vela is a more natural goal scorer. RvP is beginning to miss obvious sitters, he needs some competition. He is also beginning to sit on the pitch more often than Eboue.
The good news is that there are no new injuries; Gallas and Walcott have recovered from knocks, and Nasri from an upset stomach. Even with a stomach bug Nasri has now equaled Hleb's tally for the whole of last season's league campaign. Just think 11 more and he will have equaled Dribbly McNoscore (Arseblog copyright) career tally at Arsenal.
It is an unusual situation for the Toon to turn up at Arsenal actually higher above us on the table. They are 6th and Arsenal a lowly 14th. Perhaps their fans should photocopy it for posterity and issue a DVD. Joking apart Newcastle should prove to be more substantial opposition than FC Twente, and it is Wenger's intention that Arsenal will keep up the bounce back momentum developed in that game by winning this one just as handsomely.
I hope Arsenal fans get behind the team; it is far more fun mocking Keegan and Barton (as fans did very well last season) than jeering at our own players. Newcastle haven't won away since March when they beat Spurs, so let's not give them any encouragement by booing our own players. By the way when we will get a 3 pm home kick off?
Arsenal's squad should be almost identical to the midweek one:
Probable Squad: Almunia, Sagna, Toure, Gallas, Clichy, Walcott, Fabregas, Denilson, Nasri, Adebayor, van Persie, Fabianski, Ramsey, Wilshere, Djourou, Gibbs, Song, Bendtner, Eboue.
