However as a reward for playing so well the Gunners have been given the furthest distances to travel, against some fairly tough teams. Why can't we have Celtic or Roma? Not only that but our games after these long distance hauls will be away games. Bolton away three days after Kiev away, should be an easy three points for Bolton.  Perhaps Ferguson is right and the draw is rigged. He should know.

Well the match against FC Twente showed that Arsenal could bounce back after the lousy display at Fulham. Considering Nasri was ill he had a splendid first half and a great goal. Theo was on fire, and his goal was the best of the game. Tap ins for Gallas and Bendtner rounded off a pleasant evening.

Unfortunately one thing spoilt the evening, and that is the minority of fans who booed Adebayor when he came on. Ok I can understand it the first couple of times - but what do they want to achieve - drive him out? That won't happen this side of Xmas, and if it did who would replace him? Even when he doesn't score he leads the line. Are there lots of 30 goal a season strikers out there? Will booing him increase his confidence?

Bendtner showed again that whatever his potential he cannot lead the line yet, and van Persie is yet to regain his scoring boots. Adebayor worked hard with Denilson to get Nick on the score sheet. Indeed some of the ground couldn't resist making ironic noises at Bendtner when he finally scored.

But what is the booing of Ade for? To let him know we are unhappy at the summer transfer rumours/bargaining? Fine he knows; and how much worse was that than any of Vieira's annual media fests? So is it ok to boo Ade because they don't rate him?

A player that Wenger paid £4.5 million for - and scored 30 goals last season and now some say he won't be able to repeat that, perhaps the booing is to make sure his confidence is so low that they are proven right. I find it unsettling and destructive, and it is spreading. Every time Eboue is announced he is booed. Why? Because he isn't good enough? He hasn't been that bad of late, he was better than most at Fulham. He is loyal and will play anywhere the manager puts him, unlike a lot of prima donnas.

Lay off the boos

Besides the issue isn't whether Eboue is good or not when he has an Arsenal shirt on he is part of the team. If you don't like that have a go at the manager, players don't pick themselves. But their team mates hear them being booed - how does that affect their  morale? If fans drive out Ade and Eboue that might not be the only ones they drive out. Other may want away too. Players are not necessarily loyal to clubs, but they can be loyal to each other. They will become disaffected with the fans, they won't be encouraged by it.

Fans might be disappointed about Wenger's transfer policy, but a minority are behaving like spoilt brats throwing their toys out of the pram. They have become negative and self destructive, they are poisoning the atmosphere, not only players will begin to dread home games, but so will some spectators.

I have always hated the boo boys, and always will, they are bullies, they pick on those who they perceive to be the weakest players and create a mood of pessimism and fear. When in battle you forget any disagreements you have had and get behind your side. It is time to lay off the boos and use those vocal chords to support the team.
