Masheef game ahead.

Return of the Wally
By Boris Mellor August 27 2008
Funny enough it is a masheef game against Twente, but not for the reasons that the BBC paid £200,000 for it, that England fans are desperate to see how the Wally with the brolly has got on since he left these shores. Apart from learning how to play like Bolton, and how to imitate a Dutchman speaking English, I doubt if he has learnt much at all.

No it's a big game because Arsenal fans will want to see how the Gunners will respond to Saturday's defeat. When Arsenal played FC Twente a fortnight ago Wally's tactics took Wenger by surprise, he hadn't expected the Bolton approach. Then he went to Craven Cottage and got more of the same. So it shouldn't be a great surprise by now should it?

A good display might go some way in convincing some fans that it was a one off flop. However football is complicated by the fact that the other team has eleven men, and they might use them to frustrate the opposition however good they are.

So Wenger has said that he intends to make up for a display that was just not good enough. It's not often that Wenger criticizes his own team. But this time he even singled out the defence, and good as named Gallas for making a poor mistake (but then proceeded to blame the whole team for poor defending).

Nor was he interested in those who didn't play, he wanted those who did play to take the responsibility for the defeat. He wants them to make up for it against FC Twente. He wants to know who can play better. That's why the Twenty question is all important - the answer required is that they can play better.

Once again Twente have nothing to lose, and they will do their best to make it hard for Arsenal. The Gunners don't have to go too hard at them, make them attack and pick them off. I hope the team doesn't make the mistake of going gung ho and giving away a cheap goal. The longer Twente are goal less they will become desperate. Then they can be dismantled.

Good Luck Big Phil

No not the one that does the Harpo Marx impressions, but our own Senderos. So cheerio Big Phil, or is it au revoir? Either way he needs a change, I supported Phil for years, always believing he would make it. After Liverpool I didn't believe it anymore, perhaps he needs more games. I wish him luck and all the best for the future, an intelligent footballer is a rare thing. Not many would tell you their home town was associated with Rousseau and Calvin, or read a book on Black Power.

Poor ol Wenger can do nothing right - according to some he is mad to let him go. Wasn't so long ago that he was called mad for keeping him. How many CB s does a team need? Let's see, Gallas, Toure, Song, Silvestre and Djourou - only five - perhaps it's time to panic. I wouldn't mind a defensive midfielder. How many of those have we got? Eboue, Diaby (always injured) and Ramsey perhaps. Have I forgotten anyone? Well Arsene has until Monday midnight so expect some news Tuesday 00.30 am.

Probable Squad: Almunia, Sagna, Toure, Gallas, Clichy, Walcott, Fabregas, Denilson, Nasri, Adebayor, Van Persie, Fabianski, Ramsey, Wilshere, Djourou, Gibbs, Song, Bendtner, Eboue.

Even our youth team should batter these. A victory or even a performace reveals very little IMO. I think the Newcastle game is the first time to respond really.

we need to show teams respect. This team knocked out Ajax and they are big and strong, they would batter our youth team.

Wenger says he wants the reponse now, not later

Ade must be the shortest dropping in history. He will start on saturday. I loved the way he and Denilson fought to get Bendy on the scoresheet
