True (Sm6)

The w*nker shouldn't have been taking a penalty. I cant believe some people are blaming Drogc*nt for it.

He must've thought it would've been perfect, i.e. the captain winning the Cl for his club.

I thought there is a set order during a penalty kick

terry was supposed to be the 6th pk taker and drogba was supposed to be the 5th but drogba got sent off so terry was moved up

You select Penalty takers before the penalties.

Terry should have been further down.

Why didnt Essien take it?

But they took 7 each - so it doesnt make a lot of difference

They wouldn't have had to take 7 each if Terry had scored the 5th, the one he shouldn't have been taking?

what a load of bulls.h.1.t... drogba got sent off so the penalty miss is directly his fault because john terry missed.....this is vintage our british press at its best.... why on earth consider hypothetical situation like that...in that case if it wasnt of drogba they would not have been in the final because of his two goals....in that case terry shoul;d have been marking ronaldo tighter for the header... or terry should kicked brown in the head in the start of the game so he wouldnt have been able to cross for ronaldo to score...such utter contradictory bull is only going to come from our press in a desperate bid to back the broken ''sterling captain''.... terry missed the penalty that could have won it...simple...they had a chance to put that str8 but anelka simply didnt with a poor penalty..that is why they lost not because of ''this coulda happened '' and ''that coulda happened''..unbelieveable

well they can keep blaming the likes of drogba etc but dont be so f*cking surprised when our national team bottles it on pens again in 2010

..saviour of chelsea...sterling captain...best in the world....steps up under pressure...carrying the weight of the club....only reason chelsea are here....with a mighty kick sends the ball flying into the back of the net to take english football back where it belongs...among the european elite....but by the way...... if he misses its drogba's fault yeh... amazes me..

ronaldo missed his penalty, so drobga could ave missed his too..

Terry has to accept is failure..funny how anelka isnt the one to blame, realistically he threw the game more than terry..cause up to that point..they're still in it.

Going back to the original point, Gallas was doing that when we were still top of the league and Terry was doing it after they'd lost the CL on pens - so there is a different context. If the old school like Dixon etc aren't behind Gallas and Toure perhaps agrees, there's probably something in it. It's great that he cares so much, but not captainly conduct.

Actually in that picture that was Terry after he had missed the Penalty Chelsea still had a chance to win it at that stage.

Neither of them showed any leadership skills in both scenaios. They are both poor examples of captaincy IMO. I could have a rave about leadership but we all know what is required on that front. Both are not only captains to the other players on the pitch, but captains to the whole fan base of the club and in Terry`s case, captain of his country. Terry`s arrogance at wiping his nose on Tevez showed yet another example of poor leadership. He is a player who CANNOT remove himself from the situation, he cannot see an overview of what is happening. He is and has always been an average captain. Gallas has, on some occasions this season, let himself down through his inability to control emotion and be seen as a captain, to leed. As it was his 1st yr at skipper, I am hesitant at rubbishing him too much. I think he lost some respect in the locker room over the Brum incident , but as a CD with all the experience he has, he is positioned perfectly for the job. Where as JK`s emotions get the better of him too offen for him to be a great or even good captain

Spot on Weedz, but they will get different treatment.
Teery will be encouraged to find redemption, Gallas will be pushed over the brink

When and if AW sacks him as capt, Padre, he`ll be on his way out, I reckon.

Wenger is between a rock and a hard place. But how much difference do Captains make?

Brilliant Captian Fantastic couldnt change events in Moscow and ended up blubbing.

Great capts make the world of difference, particualy when captaining a young and/or inexperienced team. A great ,or even good, captain would have brought the CL cup back to Stamford last week. I have no doubts about that.
I`ve had this feeling all season about Gallas getting our capts arm-band, that it was given to him so as he would stay at Arsenal. I really hope I am wrong about that. There is another scinario to our CB problem. AW may be getting ready to move Gallas on and give the captaincy to someone else?
