Q & A with....Preston North End
This week we talk to the PNE fans for our boxing day fixture against the Lancashire side.
1. You're on a run of 13 games without defeat, but a lot of those games have been draws. Do you think you have enough to make the play-offs this season?
If we can convert some of these draws into wins then we are more than capable of being in those playoffs in May. We have got one of the strongest back lines in the league. Youll Mawene, Chris Lucketti and claude Davis all competing for the 2 centre back positions, and with us leaving Youll Mawene out for the majority of the season prooves we have a strong defensive unit. also there's Graham alexander is a strong right back and Matty Hill occupies the left back spot. If your attack creates a chance then not only is there to beat those 4 there is Carlo Nash in the net. So were not conceding its just the lack of goals which are costing us a playoff spot at this current time.
2. The transfer window re-opens soon, will David Nugent be leaving you?
I hope not. Although he hasn't been on top form but he is our main source of goals. We have labelled a 5M price tag and Nugent has said he wants to stay(how often do players say this).
3. Billy Davies - views?
Can't complain. A manager who took us from 21st to within 90minutes of the premiership must no what he's doing. Got an eye for a good transfer target(e.g Nugent, Nash). If given us a bit more money in the summer, i'm confidant we'd be right up there.
4. Who are your danger men?
Nugent - on top form will rip any defence.
David Jones (on loan from Man Utd) - Centre midfielder who pulls the strings in the middle. Gone off the boil as of late although he has plenty of quality when required.
McKenna - Also centre midfielder, might not be back from injury come boxing day but before his injury he was playing some good stuff.
5. What / who are your weak links?
I'd say without Callum Davidson playing on the left, we miss a bit of creativity from the flanks. Lewis Neal is a left winger also but hasn't really impressed me since joining from stoke.
6. If you could take one player from Wednesday to PNE who would it be and why?
I dont really no much about your side but ive heard decent reviews on Chris Eagles.
7. Whats your most memorable PNE V Wednesday match?
PNE 4-2 Wednesday, not too long ago now. Not very memorable but i just remember it was my first game back on north end after a long absence due to personal reasons.
8. How do you think Wednesday will do this season?
Struggle to stay up. Nothing has made me thought you would stay up from what ive seen.
9. What do you think the score will be?
PNE 2-1
If we play a high pressing tempo theres not many teams which can cope but for some strange reasons wev'e been playing a slower tempo and its not working.
