Steven Fletcher was born on 26th March 1987 in Shrewsbury, although English by birth he has become a member of the Senior Scotland squad after successfully coming through the ranks of the under 19 and under 21 Scottish teams. He made his debut for Hibernian during the 2003-04 season and has been highly regarded by many since then, so much so, that he was voted the Scottish Football writers player of the year for the 2007-08 season. Steven a very promising young striker has recently had interest from Real Madrid, Manchester City, Middlesborough and Celtic, but it is Burnley's Owen Coyle that has captured his signature. At £3million some would say it is a lot of money and a big risk for such an unproven player, but as Owen Coyle has proved in the past he only signs players that he thinks will fit into the style of play and more importantly the team ethic. Let's hope this new Fletch can put them in net more often than the last one, if he can then he will definitely be a great catch. The Longside welcomes STEVEN FLETCHER. |
