It will be CHEERS FOR MEARS down at The Turf next season as Derby County's Tyrone Mears has today signed on the dotted line. Burnley football club have officially announced that Mears has signed a 3 year deal, for a fee of around £500,000

Tye as he likes to be known, is a right full back, he was born in Stockport (but we won't hold that against him) on the 18th February 1983, he started his career as a trainee at Manchester City in August 2001, he was bought by PNE in July 2002 for £200,000 on a 3 year contract, in the 2004-05 season he suffered a stress fracture which kept him out of the game for 10 months, despite this injury PNE offered him a further 3 year deal which he accepted. In July 2006 Preston accepted an offer from West Ham for £1million. He only made 6 appearances for them and was allowed to go to Derby County on loan until the end of the 2006-07 season. Tye joined Derby permanently in July 2007 for £1million. He suffered another stress fracture in January 2008 which kept him out of the game for 3 months.

In August 2008, Tye flew out to France for a trial at Olympique de Marseille, this was under contraversial circumstances as Derby had not agreed to it. After a successful trial the two clubs agreed a loan spell until the end of the 2008-09 season. At the end of his loan Marseille decided not to sign him permanently, and he has now joined the Clarets.

Owen Coyle said on the official site " We are delighted to get Tyrone, he is a player with real pace, and we have been looking for that in the full back areas. He is hungry, still relatively young and desperate to do well. "

The Longside welcomes TYRONE MEARS.

It is now looking increasingly likely the David Edgar will be the next signing for Owen Coyle, after reports in the Tyneside press have stated he will be joining Burnley on a 4 year deal.

Seems to be conflicting information with regards to Marseille wanting him. I have heard that they offered 1.3 million Euros for him

Not sure anybody is.

Derby had accepted our offer before the French bid, I'm guessing they were then contractually bound at that point to sell to us for that price if the player agrees - which he has.

Or somebody could be lying ....... in which case it will be the French cowards - who no doubt were all in the resistance smiling smiley
