The Longside's very own colinwaldron, remembers Connelly's days as a Burnley legend: Fondly remembered as a flying right winger wearing the number 7 shirt, however Connelly's first and last games for Burnley came in the number 11 shirt. He arrived at Turf Moor via his home town club St.Helens Town who featured in the Lancashire Combination. Houghton Road the home of St.Helens Town was a rock hard surface in my playing time there and if conditions were the same years earlier then Connelly must have been a sight speeding his way past opposition players alongside the railway lines; wonder if he raced the engines leaving the Junction Station?.
