Eagles Soar Above The Turf
By TheLongside July 28 2008
Here is the latest rumour surrounding Manchester United's Chris Eagles, these rumours have been doing the rounds for a few weeks now and will just not go away, they just get stronger and stronger. We can only hope that this is one that will come to a fruitful conclusion very, very, soon.
Chris Eagles2_280708_aBurnley are expected to sign Manchester United Right Winger Chris Eagles, with all the press jumping on the story.

Chris born in Hemel Hempstead, London, joined local team Watford, but his promise like so many other youngsters alerted the big boys, Manchester United signed a then 14 year old into their youth academy, a deal that would later see Chris go back down south on loan, with striker Danny Webber signing for Watford as part of the deal, as compensation.

At Manchester United his first team chances were limited; in 2003 he made two appearances both from the bench replacing England International Kieran Richardson, and Portuguese winger Ronaldo. Watford, the place he started his career, would take him on loan, in January 2005 he went on to make 13 appearances netting once, the start of the 2005/06 season again saw Eagles on the move, this time Yorkshire and Sheffield Wednesday where 25 games and 3 goals in his 5 month spell there , which ended in December 2005, but in January almost a year after he first went to Vicarage Road, he went back, winning Watford’s Goal of the season award in the process for his Beckham like strike from the half way line against Brighton.

He left London for the second time opting to force his way into Alex Ferguson’s all conquering team, but Alex had other ideas sending Chris to NEC Nijmegen in Holland, Chris spent 3 months in Holland returning to United, where on March 13th he scored his first league goal of his Manchester United career which started as a young 14 year old apprentice.

With all the transfer gossip around Burnley at the moment, Chris Eagles has let none of it affect his attitude to play well and win games, he scored 2 goals in 4 games for Manchester United’s tour of Africa, a goal against South African team, Kaiser Chiefs, and a goal against Portsmouth in Nigeria.

The rumoured amount Burnley will pay for the winger is anywhere between the mail on Sundays reported “£1.25 Million” the Daily Mirror’s “£1million plus” Skysports “above £1.3million”

The once dubbed “New David Beckham”, would be the signing which would excite all Burnley fans, and give Owen Coyle the link that could make Burnley promotion bid serious .
