As most of our posters are aware, TheLongside members sponsored Besart Berisha last season,as part of the sponsorship package we were presented with two of Besart's signed shirts. The home shirt was raffled at our bash after last seasons Barnsley game, and was won by our messageboard poster claretandbooze.

To help boost the funds needed to sponsor Besart again this coming season, we have decided to auction the other signed shirt. If you would like to bid on this item please click on the link below. All of the money raised will go to the sponsorship fund  Besart was born in the former Yugoslavia on 29th July 1985, he bagan his career at NOFV-OBERLIGA club Tennis Borussia Berlin in 2003. He then moved to Bundesliga club SV Hamburg, from here he was loaned out to Danish Superliga team Aalborg Boldspilkub, from here he had a further loan spell at AC Horsens. He returned to Hamburg for the 2006/07 season. He joined Burnley on 3rd July 2007 as a result of his impressive display for Albania against an England B side at Turf Moor.Due to a serious injury received agains Malta he missed the whole of the Championship last season. He made his comeback in a friendly match earlier this month in the USA against Carolina Railhawks. Only yesterday he scored a wonder goal against Accrington Stanley, let's hope he can keep up that sort of form and show the Clarets fans what he is capable of doing on a consistent basis. |

The shirt (a part of our sponsorship package of Besart last season) was officially presented to The Longside by Owen Coyle immediately before last seasons home game against Barnsley.

It was the Longside sponsored game last season Payts, it was towards the end of the season.
