Alan Lee Set For Turf Moor
By TheLongside.co.uk January 18 2008
Owen Coyle is set to make Alan Lee his first cash signing early next week. The fee is expected to be around £900,000 for the Ipswich forward who has scored 30 goals in 82 appearances for the Tractor Boys since his signing in January 2006. Lee has also had spells with Rotherham United and Cardiff City in the Championship.

Many fans will remember Alan Lee from his time at Turf Moor during our promotion winning season of 1999/2000.

Alan Lee, Ipswich Town

Signed by Stan Ternent for £150,000, Lee mainly was confined to the bench and was subsequently sold to Rotherham United the following season.

During his time at Rotherham United, Lee scored 41 goals from 114 appearances and was now beginning to attract the attention of bigger clubs.

In 2003 Lennie Lawrence, then Cardiff City manager, paid £850,000 for the strong forward.

Lee went on to play 55 times for the Championship side scoring 12 goals.

Lee never settled in Wales and was on the move again, this time Ipswich Town who paid £150,000 for his services.

And now it seems that the 29 year old will be making his return to Turf Moor and a chance to show the fans what he can offer the club.

I quite liked him when he played for us before. He's certainly not as bad as some make out & better than most we already have. But £900,000 ?

WE only want players that want to play for us,I'm sorry to see Andy go but if his mind is not with us anymore, then i wish him all the best in his new venture,Alan Lee well he did't really get a chance first time around so lets hope he can do it for us this time?
I just don't understand really, they want 900 grand for him and yet COYLE SUPOSSEDLY is interrested in a couple of quality players from over the border one of them for a simmular fee so whats happened there?Surely there are a few better strikers in the lower leagues why don't we take an accassional risk you never know in football it just may come off? then again if it did't we'll be no worse off.
Come on Clarets where in a pretty descent possition for this period of time, lets not fluff it lets go for it.
Always a CLARET
