Charlton Get Gray
By TheLongside.co.uk January 18 2008
Burnley Football Club have today confirmed that leading goalscorer Andy Gray will be given permission to speak to Charlton Athletic after the two clubs agreed a fee for the striker. The fee is believed to be £1.5 million with a further £250,000 based on appearances and £250,000 on promotion.

Gray 30, made 62 starts for the club scoring 27 goals since making a £750,000 move from Sunderland in March 2006.

Also expected to be leaving the club is attacker Steve Jones who looks set to re-join his previous club Crewe Alexandra on loan for the remainder of the season.

Both deals are expected to be completed over the weekend.

A bid of £400,000 has been made by Burnley for forward Derek Riordan although Celtic are believed to be holding out for their valuation of £1 million.

Also rumoured to be making a return to Turf Moor is former striker Alan Lee.  Lee who has scored 8 league goals this season is also expected to command a fee close to the £1 million mark.

Whoever the replacement is a deal will need to be made soon as the Clarets are certainly short of attacking options.

Tomorrow sees the Clarets travel to Coventry City with only Robbie Blake available to lead the forward line.  Kyle Lafferty misses the match due to his red card versus Arsenal and Ade Akinbiyi misses due to a back injury.

I hope we don't receive the `250k for promotion`. (Sm122)

I wouldn't mind, as long as we're on the 3 clubs going up
