Burnley 1 Plymouth Argyle 0
By TheLongside.co.uk January 12 2008
Burnley manager Owen Coyle finally got his first Turf Moor victory at the eighth attempt with a 1-0 home victory against visitors Plymouth Argyle. Four changes were made to the Burnley team following the 2-0 home FA Cup defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.

Out went Gabor Kiraly, Chris McCann, Kyle Lafferty and Robbie Blake and in came Brian Jensen, Joey Gudjonsson, Steve Jones and David Unsworth.

elliott_271007_aThe first half started well for Burnley as they attacked Plymouth from the start.  Wade Elliott caused many problems but the Clarets went in to half time still 0-0.

The second half continued as the first half with Burnley doing the majority of the attacking and it took a subsitute to settle the game.

Again great play by Elliott who set up Robbie Blake who scored his sixth goal of the season on 66 minutes.

The goal was no more than Burnley deserved and the remainder of the game was played out comfortably.

There were many good performances today mainly from Wade Elliott, Jon Harley and David Unsworth.

Todays result see's Burnley move up to 11th in the league table with 37 points from 27 games.  The final play-off spot being occupied by Crystal Palace just 4 points ahead of Burnley.

Next up are Coventry away and a chance to get our good away form going again.

Todays teams:

Burnley: Jensen, Varga, Alexander, Unsworth Caldwell, Harley, J O'Connor, Elliott, Gudjonsson (Spicer 90), Jones (Blake 56), Gray.  Subs not used: Kiraly, Jordan, G. O'Connor.

Plymouth : McCormick, Seip, Sawyer, Connolly, Halmosi, Abdou (Smith), Summerfield, Nallis (Folly), Hodges, Jutkiewicz (Fallon), Easter.  Subs not used: Larrieu, Moult.

Is that gate figure correct ? Assuming Plymouth wouldn't bring many with them, that's about 3,000 more than I was expecting.
