Newcastle United Viana to Spain Spurs bid rejected

Calling Hugo Viana back from Celta Vigo yesterday appears to have had the desired effect, with the Spanish club instantly trying to conclude a deal.

Viana is currently undergoing a medical and is expected to join Celta on loan until the end of the season, with a view to a permanent deal.

In other news, Newcastle have turned down an improved bid for midfielder Jermaine Jenas from Spurs for 8.5 million pound.

It is been reported that Shepherd, will not even consider bids of less than 10 million, although it would probably take a figure in excess of even that, to prise Jenas from St James Park
