La Liga move for Kromkamp

The expected happened, Jan Kromkamp finally got his "dream" transfer he wanted all summer. But his new club comes as a surprise to many. Kromkamp is about to sign a five-year contract with Spanish side Villarreal. Kromkamp will only have to undergo a medical and if he passes that he will sign a five-year contract with the La Liga side.

Villarreal and AZ have agreed a transfer fee of £4.8 million.

Kromkamp is very eager to start with Villarreal and is looking forward to face Everton in the final Champions League play-offs.

"I didn't speak to the manager yet but I'm physically and and conditionally ready for the Everton game." Stated the 24-year old right back in 'Noord Hollands Dagblad'.

Kromkamp's move is a big relief for the player who was very close to joining FC Porto and Valencia earlier this summer. But both clubs didn't wanted to pay AZ's asking price. Kromkamp was gutted that both transfers didn't materialise and is very happy a move to Villarreal is almost finalised.

"I suddenly heard of Villarreal's interested and things went really fast from that moment on. I got a call from my agent and I drove to Amsterdam to discuss personal terms with Villarreal and a transfer was realised very soon afterwards."

"I'm very proud and relieved to join such a good club in a brilliant competition. I am looking forward to play for Villarreal."
