Surprise call-up for Newcastle United striker

Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi has surprisingly been picked for the England squad as replacement for Tottenham Hotspur's Jermaine Defoe. The 25-year old Nigerian born striker played for the England youth teams and will now be called up to the senior side for the first time in his career.

England Boss Steve McClaren decided to call-up Ameobi as replacement for Tottenham striker Jermaine Defoe.


McClaren stated:

When I heard Defoe's price (a quoted £50million), I decided to call up Ameobi, who will be worth every penny for my side. I know he's shit but so are Heskey and Crouch and look how much the latter scored for his country.

 

McClaren was also quoted for saying that Paul Robinson is absolute rubbish and a prick into the bargain.
