York City’s imminent future was decided on Saturday as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to former strugglers Leyton Orient. The result confirmed that York City will sadly be playing in the Conference next season. This latest blow comes in a long series, York City have recently gained financial security, following a takeover deal by the supporter’s trust. York City also secured the future of their home, Bootham Crescent. Relegation comes as a final kick in the teeth for York City and couldn’t of happened to a more undeserving side. Following the match fan’s continued to invade the pitch and show their support despite a disappointing season. Fan’s hailed the players “heroes”. Chris Bass the York City boss said “It feels like we've just won promotion from the Third Division and not relegation, but that's a testimony to the fans, who certainly don't deserve this. I want to make sure each and every one of those people has something to cheer about.” Chris Bass also vowed to bounce back next season. Well, from The Third Dimension, we hope Chris Bass is right, good luck to the Minstermen, hope to see you again next season!

Carlisle United’s fate was also decided on Saturday after they failed to collect all three points from Cheltenham. Carlisle held to a 1-1 draw but one point was not sufficient to continue with the chance of staying in Division 3. Carlisle manager Paul Simpson said "It's all systems go because we have to get straight back out of the Conference and be stronger and better for it.” Carlisle has managed to evade relegation for a number of seasons now but their luck ran out on Saturday. Following an abysmal start to the season, Carlisle were left hanging at the bottom of Division 3 with a hefty gap. However, recent results have gone in the Cumbrian’s favour, although not enough to avoid the drop.
Better luck next season Carlisle from The Third Dimension
