York City 1 - 1 Bury

York City fought back last night after going 1-0 down at home to Bury to make sure that they didn't go home empty handed.

The Shakers made a promising start at Bootham Crescent and just 16 minutes in, Gareth Seddon slotted the opener past Mark Ovendale from just inside the area.

The lead however lasted just eight minutes as former Bury forward Liam George equalised, converting a cross by another former Shaker, Jon Newby.

City's Lee Nogan tested Glyn Garner just before the interval, and David Nugent missed a good chance for the visitors.

Garner again denied Nogan and then Simon Wise in the early minutes of the second half, before Mark Ovendale was tested by Nugent and Harpal Singh.

The Minstermen pushed desperately for a winner as time ticked away, but it was not to be.

York City remain deep in relegation trouble at the foot of the Nationwide Division Three table, having failed to get out of the drop-zone.
