By Matthew Jones
March 14 2004
Rochdale boss Steve Parkin has failed in his bid to keep striker Paul Connor at the club. The 25-year-old has refused to sign a new deal to keep him at Spotland, and is out of contract in the summer.

Rochdale Striker Snubs New Contract Offer

Parkin confirmed: "I spoke to Paul earlier this week and told him he either signed a new contract or left the club.

"Unfortunately for us he has decided it would be better if he didn't sign a new deal.

"Therefore it is only fair, in both the interests of the club and the player, that he leaves before March 25, transfer deadline day."

Earlier in the season, Rochdale turned down an offer from Yeovil Town for their club-record signing, while Swansea made their interest known last week.

However, it now looks likely that Steve Parkin will lose his striker for nothing.
