3-0
| 3 points, 3 goals. |
| Wrexham put behind them three disappointing results by thumping Grimsby Town 3-0 at the Racecourse, it was another low attendance with the crowd just over 3,000 watching the game and the performance wasn't the best, but we have gained something from the game. Matty Crowell got his second successive man of
the match and scored his first goal for Wrexham which will delight manager
Denis Smith, from the past two games I see no reason for Crowell not to be
in the starting line up when we travel to Peterborough next Saturday.
Also today seen Chris Armstrong score his first two goals at the Racecourse
which was much over due, if we are to mount a serious play off challenge we
need at least one striker to hit form and bang the goals in, lets all hope
this is the start of a good run for Armstrong. With Llewellyn not scoring as
often as we would like, he still plays a vital part in how we play with
making good runs but just lacks that final killer touch, so with Chris
Armstrong scoring not one, but two goals today it was to much relief. Wrexham seemed to take advantage of Grimsby's disappointment of conceding
the first goal of the game by scoring two quick goals, both from Chris
Armstrong. Crowell's opener was nothing short of superb, hitting the ball
top corner and the keeper had no chance. The second 45 minutes was one of the most uneventful 45 minutes seen all
season. it was if we knew that we didn't need to do anything more to gain
the 3 points, and the only genuine chance we had was wasted by Armstrong
when through in goal despite looking suspiciously offside, Paul Barrett and
Hector Sam made substitute appearances replacing Chris Llewellyn and man of
the match Crowell but surprisingly Mark Jones didn't get a chance. Wrexham: Dibble, Pejic, Morgan, Lawrence, Carlos Edwards, Whitley,
Ferguson, Crowell, Paul Edwards, Armstrong, Llewellyn. Grimsby: Pettinger, Edwards, Crane, Armstrong, Barnard, Campbell,
Daws, Hamilton, Jevons, Thorpe, Mansaram. Referee: B Curson (Leicestershire).
