Inverness 1-0 St. Mirrren
By Jamie Cockburn November 26 2007
An early Don Cowie goal gave Inverness all three points against close league rivals St. Mirren. Inverness Caledonian Thistle now go only one point behind the Paisley Buddies in the bottom half of the table. Will Haining was also sent off in the match after collecting two yellow cards.

Roy McBain’s cross was volleyed across the goal and into the back of the net by Don Cowie just after six minutes.

Inverness nearly made it 2-0 when Roy McBain cut the ball back to Russell Duncan and his shot was deflected wide by Will Haining.

Will Haining picked up a silly yellow card when he picked up the ball and booted it away when Inverness Caley were awarded a corner.

In the second half saints pressed for an equaliser and Phil McGuire nearly gifted St. Mirren an own goal when his header hit the post after a promising St. Mirren ball.

Stewart Kean nearly got a goal for the buddies when he was through on goal and only the keeper to beat but his shot ended up wide of the mark.

St. Mirren were unlucky once again two minutes later when Billy Mehmet’s cross was volleyed just wide of the goals.

Will Haining picked up a second yellow card and was sent off when he tried to kick the ball away from Niculae’s feet but brought down the player instead.

Inverness now goes one point behind St. Mirren in the bottom half of the league table.
