Hibernian 0-1 St. Mirren
By Jamie Cockburn October 28 2007
A Billy Mehmet goal gave St. Mirren all three points at Easter Road, which is the first time in seventeen years that St. Mirren have won at the hibees home ground in Edinburgh. Thats now two straight wins for the saints and the gap between us and Gretna at the bottom is getting wider,

Hibs were not up to scratch throughout the whole match but were denied a penalty in the opening minutes of the game when Andy Millen had a tug at Mikael Antoine-Curier shirt.

A moment of madness put the visitors ahead when Ma-Kalambay advanced to get the ball and Jones heading the ball back to him, the ball bounced of the Hibees keeper and into the path of Billy Mehmet who slotted the ball into the empty net via the post from 20 yards out.

Ma-Kalambay worried the home fans again when he fumbled a headed pass-back from David Murphy, and gave away a corner which Kean’s deflected shot went wide.

It was in the 57th minute that saints keeper made his first save of the match when he held onto a low drive from Lewis Stevenson.

Things got even worse for Hibs when Dean Shiels was sent off after a two-footed challenge followed by a kick at Franco Miranda.

Saints remained comfortable after the sending off and nearly doubled there lead when Gary Mason’s shot from the edge of the box was well saved by an outstretched Ma-Kalambay.
