Falkirk 0-1 St. Mirren
By Jamie Cockburn August 26 2007
Billy Mehmet scored his first goal of the season in the dying minutes at the Falkirk Stadium to secure St. Mirren’s second win in a row. Franco Miranda started his second game in the black and white stripes hoping to add to his debut he made last week against Inverness.

The start of the first half was sloppy, and both teams gave away the ball cheaply and the fans began to voice their frustrations.

Falkirk got the first real chance of the match when Pedro Moutinho turned in the box but his shot fell wide of Chris Smith’s right hand post.

Billy Mehmet then found himself through on goal but he delayed his shot and Darren Barr managed to prevent the shot.

New-bairn Higdon looked to give Falkirk the lead but his header was sent over the bar.

The second half saw a new light and the game saw a big improvement, which resulted in Mark Corcoran hitting the bar in the 55th minute.

Just past the hour mark, a Franco Miranda free kick met the head of saints skipper Hugh Murray but his head was saved by Tim Krul.

Just as it looked like the game would be goalless and the referee would blow his whistle, Billy Mehmet got away from his marker and watched his 16-yard shot beat keeper Tim Krul and send the travelling support into the raptures.
