Motherwell 2-3 St. Mirren
By Jamie Cockburn May 13 2007
Saints secured there SPL status after a miracle comeback, after going 2-0 down, but a Sutton double and a goal from Billy Mehmet, sent Dunfermline to the first division. The large travelling support was convinced to go to the game after Motherwell announced that gate prices were £5 for adults and £1 for kids.

Both sides started out shaky with a string of stray passes and numerous mistakes.

Motherwell were first to threaten the goals when a Krisztian Vadocz shot was cleared by John Potter and McGarry almost got on the end of McBride's cross before goalkeeper Chris Smith took control.

St. Mirren were struggling to get into the game and a shot by Kean that flashed wide of the post was the buddies only real impact in the first half.

Seven minute before half time, Motherwell broke the deadlock when Ross McCormack neatly headed a Keegan cross into the net for his first SPL goal for the club.

Four minutes into the first half and Andy Millen foolishly handled in the box to award Motherwell a penalty.

Ross McCormack scored his second of the game after driving the ball into the net from the spot.

St. Mirren responded by throwing on John Sutton and Billy Mehmet.

This proved to be a great move by the manager after a weak header from John Sutton managed to escape from Meldrum’s fingertips and go through his legs to give saints a real lifeline.

Mehmet brought the scores level after latching onto a long throw and coolly slotting it into the net.

St. Mirren threw everything at Motherwell to get the winner, and it came seven minutes from time. Sutton hit the cross bar before smashing a great volley into the net.

A memorable win for saints and the large away support.
