Falkirk 2-0 St. Mirren
By jazza April 2 2007
St. Mirren’s security in the Scottish top flight looks to be going right down to the wire after a poor performance that gave Falkirk an easy win.

Falkirk was first to threaten when Alan Gow’s free kick flashed by the post.

St. Mirren were just coming into the game when Billy Mehmet headed David Van Zanten’s cross wide.

Falkirk took the lead in the 20th minute, when Pedro Moutinho turned at the edge of the box and hit a fine twenty yard hit into the back of the net.

Falkirk had a few more chances but nothing came from it. St. Mirren came across a rare chance when the home defence deflected Ian Maxwell’s left footed free kick.

Falkirk killed off the game when they doubled their lead in the 40th minute. Stephen O’Donnell fired in a close range shot when Gow’s cross flew over the head of Moutinho.

There was no clear cut chances in the second half and Falkirk really just played a passing game in the second half to protect their lead.

Saints lacked pride and it will look to be a nerve racking last few games.
