In mid 1929 a group of officials from an amateur football club, Dingwall Victors, applied for membership to the Highland League. The application was accepted for the season 1929-30. This was the beginning of Ross County FC.
In mid 1929 a group of officials from an amateur football club, Dingwall Victors, applied for membership to the Highland League. The application was accepted for the season 1929-30. This was the beginning of Ross County FC.

The name Ross County Football Club was chosen and a section of the Jubilee Park in Dingwall was purchased to become their permanent home. This area shortly became known as Victoria Park. The first game at the new park was between Ross County and a Highland League Select which was attended by around 1200 fans. Ross County made an instant hit in the Highland League by winning the North of Scotland Cup in their first Season.

During the 65 years of Highland League membership, between 1929 and 1994, Ross County won many honors including 3 Highland League Championships, 4 League Cups, 2 Qualifying Cups, 4 North of Scotland Cups and 8 Inverness Cups.

During the season 1993-94 the Scottish Football League (SFL) announced plans to re-structure the SFL by admitting 2 non-league teams bringing the total number of member clubs to 40 (It has recently been increased again to 42 teams). The board of directors at Ross County submitted an application for membership and in early 1994. Ross county were give a huge vote of confidence from the other 38 members of the SFL by being admitted, along with Inverness C.T. to play in the Scottish Division 3 for Season 1994-95.

Since joining the league Ross County have performed well in the league and cups reaching the Quarter finals of the League cup in 1998 and finally winning promotion to The Second Division in season 1998-99. The following season, 1999-2000, Ross County won promotion to the First Division where they are still currently playing.
