Grimsby hand trial to Lee Sharpe and Craig Russell

Grimsby Town have handed trials to Lee Sharpe and Craig Russell.

The duo will feature in tonights friendly at Hull City as the duo try to impress for a contract.

Former Manchester United and England star Sharpe left Bradford at the end of last season and has had numerous offers from abroad, mainly MLS in the USA. It seems that Sharpe is keen to stay in England though.

Striker Russell is currently playing for St Johnstone but the club will be forced to sell him on a free transfer as they can't afford his wages. An almost identical situation to what Grimsby are in with thier high earners.

Meanwhile at Blundell Park, French trialist Tresor Luntala has left the club after failing to impress.

Board member Alex King has resigned just a day after fellow board member John Fenty sold his 500,000 shares in the club to raise funds for manager Paul Groves.
