Young Ones: Shaun Wright-Phillips

Wright-Phillips

May 14 2002
This edition of 'The Young Ones' looks at Man City's pacy attacker, Shaun Wright-Phillips.
Man City manager, Kevin Keegan, once stated 'Wright-Phillips will play for England'. High praise indeed.

The adopted son of Ian Wright, former England striker, was signed for City when he was released from Notts Forest acedemy and broke onto the scene for City in 2001 when they were relegated.

His lightening pace scares the hell out of defenders and even if he does get tied up in the defenders he's got the skill to go round them all. He's scored 5 goals for City in the 2001-02 season and really does have a promising future wheather it's with City or not. The right sided winger broke into the England Under-21 towards the end of the 2001/02 season.
