Forster though, had already struck the post before his goal and before Nathan Tyson was sent off for a second book able offence.

The Bantams best chance of the game fell to Andy Gray but his shot was easily saved.

Burnley 1-1 Grimsby Town

Grimsby Town moved a step further of avoiding the drop by claiming a valuable point at Burnley's Turfmoor Ground.

The draw came at a lost as the Mariners had to sacrifice Stacy Coldicott, who suffered a serious knee injury during the first half. Although, just after that injury blow, Stuart Campball put the visitors a head.

Ian Moore (son of Ronnie) was denied a goal when his goal was disallowed, though he did make sure moments later.

However, Town boss Paul Groves almost got a winner deep into injury time.

Coventry City 1-2 Leicester City

Leicester City boosted there promotions hopes by winning all three points at Highfield Road and at the same time catching Portsmouth by two small points.

Billy McKinlay was man-of-the-match for the Foxes with his superb display. The Scotsman headed a Mo Konjic header off the line before putting the visitors in front.

Jamie Scowcroft doubled the away sides lead after hammering Callum Davidson's cross-field ball home.

Matt Jasen pulled a goal back just moments later after Gary McAllister crossed, but City were too good for the Sky Blues as they went away with all the points.

Crystal Palace 2-0 Walsall

Walsall are now clear contenders for the drop after they slumped to a 2-0 defeat at Sulhurst Park while two Saddlers were sent for a early bath.

The visitors where doing okay until Ian Roper brought down Dougie Freedman just after half an hour, the former Forest hit-man then got up to convert the penalty.

The Walsall defender was once again left standing on a tight rope when he conceded yet another penalty, but Tommy Black managed to steer it onto the post.

The drama was far from over as Carl Robinson and Martin O'Connor both saw red before Wayne Routledge added a winner in the last minute of the game.

Ipswich 2-2 Brighton & Hove Albion

The Seagulls got a surprised draw at Portman Road yesterday, though Steve Coppell could not be blamed for feeling that his side should have won!

Danny Cullip supplied a poor back pass for his keeper which let in Marcus Bent where the former Blades striker put the host a head.

However, the Seagulls equalised with a bizarre goal. Tony Rougier shot but was saved by Andy Marshall, but somehow left it fall into the net.

The Horses was given a chance to take the lead but Darren Bent fired his penalty over the bar before Rougier fired the vistors a head.

Joe Royal's side though got a leveler in the last minute when Martijn Reuser's hit and hope shot found the net.

Millwall 3-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Chris Tuner's Sheffield Wednesday look like playing in Division Two next season after a poor performance against Millwall which ended in a 3-0 defeat for the Hillsbrough club.

The Owls weren't doing so bad until Steven Reid scored a 25 yard effort which was quite clearly out of the blue. Reid then made it 2-0 when he poached down a Steve Clarridge free-kick.

The Lions made it game, set and match just shortly after half-time when Paul Ifill hit home the third.

Wednesday however were not giving up as they tried a late come back through there Yorkshire grit but the closest they came was when Alan Quinn hit the woodwork late on.

Nottingham Forest 4-0 Norwich City

Promotion battlers Norwich City were stunned as they received a hammering from Nottingham Forest at the City Ground yesterday.

Darren Huckerby and Marlon Harewood came close to taking the lead before they eventually did through Huckerby. David Johnson broke free on the wing where his cross fell to the loaned striker who had the job finishing.

David Johnson then set up Marlon Harewood to net his 11th goal in ten games.

Mark Rivers and Darel Russell went close for visitors before Gareth Williams and Jim Brennen secured the points for the Reds.

Preston North End 1-1 Portsmouth

Portsmouth where denied the chance to go points a head of Leicester City when Preston scored a late equaliser to send Harry Redknapp's team home with a point.

Pompey almost took the lead just three minutes into the game through Linvoy Primus, but Yakubu Ayegbini did minutes later after some good work by Steve Stone and Paul Merson.

The Lillywhites battle on and on as they had full control of the game but looked to go away with nothing as they spurned chances.

However the Deepdale faithful got their reward in the last minute of play. American striker Eddie Lewis fired in a free-kick towards the box where Paul McKenna pulled a rabbit out of the hat to grab a deserved leveler.

Rotherham United 2-1 Wimbledon

The Millers must be fed up of the Dons right now as this game was there fourth meeting between the two clubs this season, although it was the home side that won this time round.

Before the game, Ronnie Moore had re-called Mark Robins from Bristol City and it was Robins who put the Millers in front when he flew in to head the home side in front.

Guy Branston made it two when he haeded in Gareth Farrelly's free-kick three minutes into the second half.

David Connolly had earlier been denied by Mike Pollitt, halved the score line when he turned in Wayne Gray's cross.

Sheffield United 2-0 Derby County

Sheffield United punished a very poor Derby County side by winning there 10th league game at Bramall Lane this season with a 2-0 convincing win.

The game itself looked very flat until Michael Tonge unleashed a spectacular shot into far top corner of the goal after taking on two Rams defenders.

Everton loanee Nick Chadwick miss-kicked the ball when he had only Paddy Kenny to beat from 14 yards out.

After the break United made it two-nil when Dean Windass put through a ball for Steve Kabba, who only had the keeper to beat which he did with ease.

Late on, Dean Windass struck the post and was denied from six yards out, when on another day he would have scored.

Watford 1-2 Stoke City

Stoke City moved out of the bottom three (only by goal difference) with a deserved 2-1 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road.

The Hornets started brightly and Gifton Noel-Williams was denied by Mark Crossley, but Peter Hoekstra put the away side in front with a penalty after Micah Hyde hand balled in the area.

Hyde, though came close to redeeming himself but his shot hit the post, while Crossley stopped Neal Ardley and Icelandic International Heidar Helguson before Hoekestra struck again.

Heguson though, did manage to get his goal after heading in a Stephen Glass cross, but the Potters held on to a well earned victory.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 6-0 Gillingham

The Gills fans were left feeling what had happened at Molineux yesterday as they were humiliated to a 6-0 thrashing by the Wolves.

Nathan Blake opened up the scoring after 15 minutes after playing a one-two with Paul Butler before Colin Cameron  fired home the second.

Paul Ince almost made it 3-0, but the former Manchester United and England midfielder was denied when his shot struck the post. Mark Kennedy side footed to make it three and Kenny Miller turned in Ince's pass to make it four without reply.

Kennedy hammered home a 18 yard stunner, while Miller completed the rout just minutes from full-time.
