Marlon joined the Gills from Barnet for £250,000
in the summer of 2000
having begun his career at non-league Dulwich Hamlet.
he scored 15 goals in his first season, which proved that he had what it
took to star at division one level and was linked with a host of clubs,
including Wolves and Spurs.
His second season with the club proved to be even better as he scored 20
goals in all competitions making him by far and away the clubs leading
scorer and one of the hottest properties outside of the Premiership.
After that things took a turn for the worst as Marlon was handed an 18-month
jail sentence for handling a stolen car, this was later reduced to 9 months
and Marlon returned to action for the Gills in the 1-0 away win over Ipswich
in October.
As Marlon was regaining his match fitness and goalscoring touch (7 goals)
disaster struck again as he suffered injury which looks like keeping him out
until the early months of next season.
Despite this, Marlon is definately a player many Premiership will be having
a look at in the future although he has pledged his future to Gillingham in
return for their support over the last few months.
