Sibon Signs For Heerenveen
By Paul Holland
January 13 2003
Sheffield Wednesday have sold their star striker Gerald Sibon to Dutch side SC Heerenveen for £500,000 and signed for three and a half year contract.
Sibon moved to Hillsbrough just over three years ago from Holland, he was playing for Ajax for a fee of just £2,000,000.

It has been no surprise that Gerald has left, especially as the Owls have never denied the fact that the cash strapped club were willing to take players off there high wage bill and with Sibon being their high earner there was no doubt that Sibon would be first to go.

Heerenveen won the Dutch League a few seasons ago and have struggled to retain that trophy ever since. The De Erediviisie League Club, currently lying 11th after 17 games has bought Sibon to try and help them shoot up the table.
