The Football League look to have found a broadcaster for their highlights programme.....ITV!
The season is already underway but no highlights programme has yet been sorted out. It was expected the rights would be sold shortly after the live rights were sold to SKY.

Now it has emerged that ITV are set to gain the rights. Despite the clubs not getting the £178million from the failed ITV Sport venture.

BBC and Channel 5 were also in talks but look to be out of the race.

ITV have claimed that they are not in talks for a nationwide deal and any deal will be through their regional companies (Yorkshire, Granada etc).

The Football League's spokesman John Nagle didn't reveal any names but said that any deal should be completed in the next few weeks. "The League is in negotiation with several broadcasters and we are confident of tying up an agreement within the next couple of weeks.

"It is important that fans are able to see highlights of games and also get the widest possible distribution of those highlights."
