Derby v Leeds u18's and u15/16's report Sat 11 Feb 2006

12pm k.o Moor Farm, Training Ground, Derby

So Leeds played Derby 3 times in one day with dire performances from the 1st team and u18's. A draw, loss and a win.

u18s
1 WILBERFORCE
2 STANSFIELD
3 SERRANT
4 BAYLY (CAPT)
5 HIRD
6 CAMFIELD
7 HUTTON
8 ROTHERY
9 HOWSON
10 AMEOBI
11 ROSE
12 MCKEOWN
13 POWELL
14 VERMOOTEN
15 MADDEN

Leeds started with just 3 players on the bench as sub keeper Ben Powell was in goal for the u15/16 side on an ajacent pitch.

Leeds started the 1st half with a comfortable 4-4-2 and played some good football against 2nd place Derby. Danny Rose showed why he is a good prospect with several pieces of good skill despite several crunching tackles and a load of verbals from the Derby no4 ,a shaven headed thug called Tom Cumberworth.
The referee Mr J P Johnson was in poor form and failed to even speak to Cumberworth after his first half a dozen tackles.
Cumberworth , playing without shin pads got his cum uppence and was carried off with a leg injury just before half time.

Leeds had several chances to score with Gavin Rothery going near with a couple of free kicks, Danny Rose and Howson also had efforts saved by an on form Derby keeper Steven Cann.

Derby took the lead after a slip by Ryan Serrant allowed Derby space to advance and despite Wilberforce spreading himself well a Derby forward managed to squeeze the ball home.

Goodness knows what the half time team talk from Coach Greg Abbott contained as Leeds adopted a 4-3-3 formation at the start of the 2nd half, with Rothery joining Howson and Ameobi upfront.
Rose,Hutton and Bayly lost their way in midfield in the 2nd half and Derby deserved their 2nd goal to wrap the match up.
12 McKeown replaced Ameobi and 15 Madden replaced Stansfield.

Derby now replace Leeds at the top of The F.A Academy Group D, but Leeds have a game in hand and are still 3 goals better off than Derby on goal difference.

U15/16's v Derby
The much talked about u16's recorded a 5-0 victory over a very good Derby side.

Leeds included Ben Powell in goal who was the nominated sub keeper for the main match.
Leeds and Derby were fairly evenly match in possesion and overall play in the first half and Leeds went into the break 2-0 up.

Leeds scored 3 more in the second half with Darville, Overton and Elliott looking good

It was interesting to see that Derby had a couple of Security men at the gates of the Training Ground keeping an eye out for rouge agents and scouts, a couple of which have been banned from entering any Derby County premises
