Richard Naylor in on Loan

New Boy Naylor
By Andy Baggott
January 14 2009
Leeds have made their second loan signing of the transfer window with the signing of Ipswichs' Richard Naylor. The 31 year oldd centre back follows in Lee Trundle, signed on loan last week from Bristol City.
Naylor is here until February 19th.  The defender is a huge Leeds fan, and it will be a dream move for the player.  There is no news as yet if there is an option to extend the loan or to buy, but Leeds manager Simon Grayson has made a swift move to sure up his backline following the shocking show on Saturday against Carlisle.

Excellent signing,he's a good mate of mine although havent seen him for a few years.Used to play for same school team as me and not only can he play at CB he can also play up front...he is a little injury proned (dodgy knee)but he is to his credit a leeds lad(went to Allerton Grange) and a Leeds fan.Has been at Ipswich ever since leaving school and scored the goal that took them to the premiership.

He is experienced at top level and will be a really good player for us im sure

Very good signing, tough uncomprimsing centre-half. Often spoke of his love for us and will play like one of us, i.e. with his heart on his sleeve!!!! We've got too much of a soft centre and i'm in no-doubt that he will help shore it up.

Good that he's a Leeds fan....it would be great if KB/LG can turn this into a permanent arrangement.

Re: Richard Naylor in on Loan
"NEW signing Richard Naylor has not ruled out an extended stay at Leeds United after joining on an initial one-month loan deal.

The 31-year-old has been brought in by Simon Grayson to bring some much needed stability to a backline that could be bolstered further in the coming 24 hours by the arrival of Stoke City left back Carl Dickinson on a temporary move.

Naylor's loan is due to run out on February 19 and Ipswich Town manager Jim Magilton has stressed that the defender's career is not over at Portman Road.

Despite that, lifelong Leeds fan Naylor said today: "It might become permanent, but that is not in my hands. The main thing is I come here and help get the best out of the lads to get some points on the board for Leeds. The rest will take care of itself.

"There are some good players at the club but maybe they are low in confidence. It seems that every little mistake is costing them.

"Maybe a fresh face coming in will rattle a few cages and get the best out of them.""

looks like he may want to stay here permanently if it all goes well for him, fingers crossed would be a good signing if he decided to stay on!
