Arbitration could be delayed
By Rich Baggott April 17 2008 Breaking news this evening is that Arbitration is expected to enter a fourth day and the result may not be announced for up to five weeks. The hearing began on Wednesday and the result was initially expected before the weekends fixture on Saturday. Warnings were given that the result could be made next week but this latest news would cause uproar.
Leeds complete their season on 3rd May and given that the decision could have a dramatic affect on the League taqble and in particular, which clubs would compete for the play-off places, any delays would be catastrophic for all concerned.
Four weeks could take us to just before the start of the play offs. Think of the scenario if we get them back and win automatic promotion at the expense of Carlisle or even Swansea or Doncaster, these clubs will really be hard done bye, but it will be through no fault of Leeds United. The FA took ages to refuse to order independent arbitration on the issue. When the FL fixed the penalty, Leeds accepted it only under duress and stated that they want the right of appeal. The FL came up with the bizarre idea of putting the case to the member clubs, all of whom have conflict of interest. Only when Leeds decided to go to the high court did the FL accept arbitration, and took all this time to prepare their case. A stark example of bad management.
I can see an upheaval at the FL if all this takes place, with the arbitration results delayed for four weeks or further. One good thing that such an upheaval will produce is that Mawhinney and co will be disgraced.
This is absolutely shocking. You all know my feelings on Leeds but one way or another, I would like the matter resolved in days not weeks. Like you say, the FL are a laughing stock.
Any point amendemens would have to take place this season. They couldn;t start us on +15 nxt season, we'd have 23 clubs taking legal action against our unfair advantage.
Thing is, no one is going to be taking legal action against us, we aren't doing anything wrong and if we get the points back, this season or next, its not our fault, its the FLs problem, so feck them i say, let them deal with all the legal problems they will have!!!
