Page and Margetson Pen City Deals

Cardiff City have captured the signatures of Welsh Internationals, Martyn Margetson and Rob Page. Goalkeeper Margetson signs a new two year deal at Ninian Park while defender Page has joined on a free transfer from Sheffield United.
29-year-old Page was transfer-listed by Blades boss Neil Warnock at the end of last season and will now join up with fellow Wales centre backs Danny Gabbidon and James Collins at his new club.

Page told BBC Wales Sport: "It's fantastic, I can't wait to get together with the boys for pre-season training," he said.

"I've got a lot of family in Wales so it's lovely to come back, but my main motivation was to be at a club that has ambitions, I want to help them get into the top flight.

"Having said that, I know there will be stiff competition for places so I'm taking nothing for granted."

32 year-old Margetson has signed a new two year contract to keep him at Ninian Park. His old deal would have expired at the start of July.

After initially being offered a one-year deal Margetson had threatened to quit the club unless the offer was improved.

Speculation then mounted when Swansea City offered the keeper a three year deal to take over from Roger Freestone in goal at The Vetch.

However Cardiff have improved the offer and Margetson was all too happy to sign the contract.
