Teletext contributions for the 2003/4 season....

Adios Mr. Konjic, you have served us well - and you signed off with a goal too! I doubt he will be booed next time Derby pay us a visit. Rumours of potential CCFC signings aren't filling many with glee, as it seems we are attempting to make the average age of the team around 40. Fans know who they want here - mostly loan signings we've seen at Highfield Road over the last two seasons.
Another CCFC manager, doing as good as can be expected on a budget of nil, gets the boot. For Mike McGinnity read Jesus Gil. Absolute lunacy. MM promised honesty when he took over, yet the "inconsistent" line cuts no ice with most CCFC fans. Black over achieved, and deserved a full season. Good luck to EB in the future, and the next team that gets him gets a potential diamond. CCFC will miss him.
Surely not? Surely CCFC haven't really found somebody willing to put millions of pounds into the club? Free fanzine subscription for him if he does! Unsurprisingly, plenty of CCFC fans doubt this to be true - but I'm sure would be happy to be proved wrong!! The last but one interruption before the summer holidays is Gillingham away and they have far more to play for than we do - their D1 future!
Three matches left, all against teams with something to play for. Just in case CCFC think we have nothing left to play for, we have - pride!! A win for Rotherham should see them safe - a win for CCFC will boost our chances of a finishing in the Top 12. Safri has stated he would like to play in the Premiership - wouldn't we all! So why not play to the best of your ability at CCFC YS, and take us there?
The ride is over, but the four goal thrashings we've been handing out have been most enjoyable - and long into next season may they continue!! The big question is: How did we lose to Crewe? It's a well used cliche, but had it been a boxing match it wouldn't have lasted 45 minutes. Gutted! CCFC won't be signing Olszar, which is great news - releasing David Pipe isn't. He's far too good for D3....
At least Adebola had the decency to make it onto the pitch before going missing - new signing Omandi Lowe is just missing (in the sun), full stop! It's time to vote for CCFC's `Player Of The Season', and the result is surely Steven Warnock, by a landslide! He has to win, he has to stay! We're probably out of the play offs - then again, weren't Monaco, Porto, and Chelsea supposed to lose this week?!
That the patient known as CCFC is still alive is just short of a miracle. That said patient isn't three points closer to a play off place is the fault of one man - our latest partially sighted match official. How we could do with the money a play off place would get us - let alone what gaining promotion would bring. Lose to Stoke on Saturday, and we'll be needing snookers though....
A message to CCFC's "stayaway" fans - get your apathetic backsides upto Highfield Road! The quality of the football is worthy of more support. The club have given you an incentive - buy tickets for all four remaining matches, pay for three! They've made a gesture, now it's your turn. We probably won't make the Top 6 now, but have a better chance of getting results with a very vocal full house!
Awesome! Eight goals in two games and it should have been a stack more! Some of the football CCFC are playing has been as good as we've seen all season! The only problem with being this good is that other clubs sit up and take notice, and failure to go up will see the best players picked off. Wigan is yet another massive test, and victory would see us leap-frog them in the table - unthinkable weeks ago!
It's crunch time. Two home games in five days, and two wins would put CCFC properly in the play-off mix. Anything less, we can probably forget it! Defeat to a dull but effective WBA side wasn't that unexpected - the big question is how we react to that loss! Young Callum has started pumping iron in a bid to add some presence to his play - I would suggest the rest of our lightweight team does the same!
Sign Clarke - NOW! There's no such thing as a dull game with him around! Saturday was enjoyable - Tuesday was awesome! It's fair to say a lot of us thought it was game over after 40 seconds! CCFC under EB seem to be made of stronger stuff - superb! There are a lot of proud CCFC fans at this moment in time - don't spoil it lads! You have set the standard we now expect you to live up to....
Won, Lost, Won, Lost, Draw, Draw, Won, Draw, Won, Lost, etc. If CCFC could only put a run of wins together the p**y o**s might be a real prospect .... Dons fans claimed CCFC weren't much better than they were last weekend - well aren't they the lucky ones? It meant they only got hammered 3-0! Victory versus Derby leaves some believing in the impossible, defeat could dump us back among the dregs....
Craig Hignett to Crewe? Where were you Eric? He's exactly what CCFC need(ed)! Another faux pas from Mr. Black .... We also need a Darren Huckerby too. On his day, nobody in D1 can stop him. And a Daniel Dichio - a target man that scores goals. And, and, and .... we need another clear-out. The defence is too slow, the midfield is invisible, and the strikers miss too many chances. Apart from that....
Three points closer to safety! A clean sheet! And Adebola's leaving! Not the worst week in CCFC history .... Now, if only Mr. Warnock would sign on the dotted line! - followed by Jackson and the Caldwell brothers this summer. Yes, Adebola tries, but he isn't doing the business - no goals for four months isn't good enough! Replacing him is proving tough though - anybody over six foot tall will probably do!
What's the point of moaning anymore? CCFC fans already know how poor the team is, and the players don't seem to care. And I doubt they ever read/hear our opinions - they should be made to! Tuesday was the latest in a long line of disgraceful displays/results, and the sad thing is CCFC fans are so used to it they are accepting it. Very sad. Forest haven't won a league game for ages - the run should end tomorrow....
So the potential new striker who would make people "sit up and take notice" of CCFC was a player who had managed three minutes of football this season?! The new striker could still happen, but it's not Van Nistelrooy, as he's just signed a new deal. Is it Henry?! Please CCFC, stop building us up only to knock us down. We know the budget is nil, and so are our expectations! Surviving the drop is our priority.
The big question: Can Eric Black improve on his fairly decent start as boss? A "banana skin" awaits him next! The real Joachim finally "stood up" last weekend, and has since said he wants to stay at CCFC. More displays like - and less injuries - and there might be support for that request. Any chance of the CCFC fans that went to Walsall sitting together at home games? Preferably in the Main Stand!
Why the press conference? Who didn't know CCFC's new boss was Eric Black? Was it just to remind the world CCFC exists? Good luck to him anyway. It appears Black's first signing is a non scoring midfield player - why? We've got enough of those already! Is it too much to ask that CCFC score a goal on Saturday? And maybe win the match? Then we can all start that ridiculous "play-offs" talk again....
Mills off? Mansouri off? Quinn loaned out? Adebola going nowhere? Not the sort of transfer activity to inspire for the rest of the season. A dozen of the CCFC squad could leave without making a difference but it's "players in" we need! A striker that can head the ball, for instance? Or a midfield player that can score goals? There's a CCFC reserve named Jorgensen that fits the latter description....
Again CCFC are closer to the bottom three than the top six - it's not resolutions we need, it's revolution! There's nothing to suggest the current crop of strikers will suddenly learn how to shoot straight, so get rid of them all! If anybody will have them .... The window is now open. Let's copy Norwich's example and bring in three new strikers, else the trapdoor to D2 will be open too....
Saturday is a local derby - can the players please raise their game like every Midlands side does against us? Show some passion and commitment! And can the fans raise the volume level too? Don't be shy! If everybody joins in, the likelihood is you won't hear how poor your own voice is! If you're not hoarse by 4.50pm, you've not done your job properly! Sing your hearts out for the lads!
Will 50 points be enough to keep CCFC in D1 this season? Because that will be our total if we're going to draw every match! It's getting boring now. If I could have just one football related Christmas wish, it would be that Joachim stays fit. He is CCFC's ticket to the top half of the table! And can we have our Whing back please? He should be a definite starter....
`Unbeaten in six' becomes `no wins in seven' - not good enough! CCFC have struggled against the Dons, Bradford, and Rotherham - talk of a play-off place is cancelled. D2 is far closer. What price Sunderland's goal drought ends on Monday? Our defence is woeful, midfield clueless, and attack lacking. Anybody got a spare drawing board? We've worn out all the others we've had to go back too....
Coventry has a new hero - Neil Back! If only our soccer stars(?) could do anything as worthy of note as the great man. Like win a soccer match? Shame on the CCFC fans that never took up the cheap ticket offer - and shame on CCFC for giving a display that means those that did won't be back! McAllister's pep talk, telling the squad a lot of them will be out the door next summer didn't seem to help.
Wales out! Scotland out! Turkey out! A good week to be an English fan! I had intended to support the UK teams, but such is their dislike of the English, I took to supporting the opposition. I don't understand the hatred. And I don't know why certain flags carried by non-English fans are allowed into English grounds without being taken down. Why? If English fans took the equivalent flag to certain away games they would be accused of racism....
A draw away at Sunderland, and I'm disappointed! Powder-puff efforts from Joachim was the reason we only drew! Such was the lack of a threat from SFC that CCFC felt safe enough to give Shearer 45 minutes! Arphexad was subbed after teammates were unable to wake him from 45 minutes of under use! How many more times will the `having Joachim back is like having a new signing' line be trotted out? Yawn....
Same old CCFC! Play well against the better sides, abysmal against the worst. If it wasn't for the firework display outside, most people would have slept through the Bradford game. What the watching Mick McCarthy will have made of our display Cliff Richard only knows - he must be expecting to win by a cricket score on Saturday! Macca's looking to sign more strikers. Why not pass to the ones you've got?
Christmas came two months early - many thanks to Derby for the gifts! I doubt WHU will be quite so charitable though. Hopefully the 120 minutes against Spurs will have tired out Mr. Defoe as our defence struggles against pace. Too many people connected with CCFC are making statements about going on a winning run because we won a match - this usually sees us lose the next one or two. Keep it shut please....
Saturday's display from CCFC is what the terrace chant `Can We Play You Every Week?' was written for. In front of the cameras too - how embarrassing. Since then, O'Neill's finally gone, Shearer's been dropped, and we took a point at Watford! Oh! Yes! And the stadium might now be built too. Derby lost to a team that played with 10 men for 85 minutes Tuesday - surely 11 CCFC players can get a result?
England qualified for Euro 2004, CCFC won and the stadium got the go-ahead - not a bad week! A lotto win and three points off Cardiff on Saturday please! Shame on the Tories that voted against helping Arena 2???, as failure to do so could have killed the club. And hats off to Wayne Rooney too if he really did slap Alpay! Well deserved! Here's hoping the reason McAllister hasn't been around isn't too serious.
Morrell to Wolves? Behave! It's early days, but the man could become a legend at Highfield Road. The weekend sees a break from D1 football, and CCFC need it. We're so close to getting the right formula, but need a bit of fine tuning. Alarm clocks for a sleepy defence seems like a decent idea, and telling Shearer he's allowed to move off his line might help too....
Things are looking up! Had Shearer not gifted Wigan an equaliser on Saturday, CCFC would be in the top half of the table now. Nose-bleed territory! Morrell has taken to D1 like Arsenal to collecting red and yellow cards, and even Joachim looks interested! Heck! At this rate a McAllister corner might just find a CCFC shirt too! Whether or not Mr. Collymore would add anything to CCFC is debatable though.
CCFC obviously didn't fancy the idea of a day out in Cardiff - what other reason can there be for such a poor display against Spurs? Zero passing ability, and no chance of scoring. At times it seemed CCFC were content to merely watch the opposition play, to see exactly how it should be done. It's not an original thing to ask, but: I wonder which CCFC will turn up to play against Wigan on Saturday?
Cobblers! Just when we thought we had turned the corner .... Flailing arms, and conceding goals on the half-time whistle, are habits worth getting out of. So is losing .... Morrell is becoming hard to ignore as far as playing from the start goes. His work-rate is phenomenal, and he scores goals! Luckily for him, there's a couple of spare places in the team soon to be up for grabs....
Watch and learn CCFC! England: Played badly twice, won twice! It's a good habit to get into - try it!! And what odds on Eustace to score for Stoke on Saturday? Let's just hope Williams is in Stoke's defence, then we're at least guaranteed one goal. As for Ravanelli, the mystery goes on! He's here. He's not. He's training with us. He's not. He's signed. He hasn't. We want him. Or do we?
I missed the weekends match due to being abroad but it seems the script was the same as ever - play well, get nothing. How boringly familiar .... Still, as one optimistist pointed out, there's still 126 points to play for - more than enough to see us promoted! Ravanelli has been linked with CCFC, but is surely out of our wage range. Over-paid, over-rated, and falls over easily. You spotted it, I'm not a fan!
I am so bored of the words "almost" or "nearly". CCFC don't have time to wait for these words to become "is" - the season has started, and we're seven points off the top spot already. And scoring still looks a problem. On Wednesday CCFC repeatedly tried to walk the ball into the net - Forest merely walked up the pitch and scored. As for O'Neill, what a waste of space. Surely his time at CCFC is now up?
Had Saturday's game been a boxing match, it would have been stopped way before the end! Twenty-five chances, no goals! Plenty of positives though. And if Staunton continues to play like he did on his debut, he might just be forgiven for being an ex-Villain! Whether Ipswich's form is good, bad, or indifferent, CCFC don't usually get a result against them, so Saturday is a good test for the "new" CCFC.
Saturday could be fun. Most defenders are injured, but we're top heavy with strikers - a 1-1-8 system it is then! And we've won at home already! A 2-0 victory over Peterboro means we're still in the cup - yet still people left the ground moaning! Chelsea's team that played in Europe cost £100 million, and didn't perform much better. Pound for pound, CCFC's display was better value....
Suffo? Barrett? Adebola? Doyle? (Plus others!) And finally Jorgensen? (One from my list). Mr. McAllister, you have bought(!) well over the summer! And Sillett, Curtis, and Hill back at the club too? Great news! Now be gone doom mongers - things are looking up! Watford away is a tricky start, and Walsall won't be a lot easier, but when the new CCFC click into gear, I expect a fairly decent season!
