Coventry 1 Birmingham 1

Saturday afternoon saw me suffering a strange sensation (Strange this season anyway). I think I actually felt slightly proud of my football team for once....

The recent poor attendances were swelled to 22,400 thanks, in part, to 2,000 Cub's, Scout's, and Guide's being offered cut-price tickets, with all of the afore-mentioned hoping to earn their 'suffering a Coventry City match' badge - the home team actually looked up for this fixture though (With one exception).

There was plenty of effort from the home side in the first half, though little by way of tests for Myhill in the Birmingham goal (Or Murphy in the Coventry City goal for that matter).

A couple of Birmingham City dives in the penalty area were ignored by the referee, before Nimely's 'fall', as he tried to go past two defenders, earned him a yellow card just before the hour mark.

Cody McDonald, one of the few Coventry City players that actually looks like he knows where the opposition goal is, was kicked off the pitch by Curtis Davies (Not quite as unfairly as I might have made that sound), and was replaced by Clive Platt. Goal threat reduced.

One of the other Coventry City players that has a clue where the opposition goal is, Gary McSheffrey, scored against his old club, but within less than a 100 seconds(ish), garbage defending allowed Marlon King to equalise.

The 'Marlon King to score anytime' versus Coventry City bet was the easiest money to be made off the bookies so far in 2012, and those that did have a cheeky pound on it predictably ended the day in profit.

Sod's Law states that as soon as Carl Baker has what by his standards could be regarded as a storming game, he goes and gets himself injured, and in the 80th minute he did .... and will now be missing for a month. At least we've got David Bell to fall back on....

Jordan Mutch was sent off for a foul on Nimely as the 90 minutes was up, and (From somewhere) the match officials stated seven minutes of injury time were to be played! (As Marlon King sneaked off the pitch too).

TEAM: Murphy, Keogh, Clarke, Cranie, Cameron, Cranie, Norwood, Clingan, McSheffrey, Baker (Thomas 81), Nimely, McDonald (Platt 61). SNU: Dunn, Christie, Deegan.
