Some will doubt my loyalty to the cause, or question my commitment to the club, but as my last Telegraph Fanzone article stated, I am simply bored of this same old rubbish being dished up. Coventry were woeful (For the 75 minutes I suffered anyway), and the only surprise was that I stayed for so long.
I knew this sort of display was on the cards, pointing this out to one of the less friendly stewards employed by the club (Just kidding CK!). So sure was I of said fact, I didn't bother taking my note-pad and pen out of my pocket 'til the second half had started, by which time were one soft goal down. Had our defence shown as much desire as the Palace player that scored, the ball would have been cleared.
Worthwhile displays could be counted on the fingers of one finger, and while Best once again spent most of the match being criticised for everything, Michael Mifsud was even worse. Some have criticised my description of him as a 'one-trick-pony' - this match, typical of so many of his displays since January, only served to prove me right. He was abysmal.
Clinton Morrison, three goals in three games, was forced to give the sort of display that recently saw him dropped, because he had to keep dropping back to cover ineffective displays from so-called team-mates. The midfield was almost non-existant, including probably one of Jay Tabb's most anonymous displays in a Coventry City shirt.
Elliott Ward did manage a header which threatened Speroni's goal, but a Palace defender cleared off the line, while Clinton Morrison also had a goal disallowed just before half-time, but that was as close as Coventry got (In the first 75 minutes).
The arrival of Simpson and Eastwood did give supporters some grounds for optimism, as the tempo lifted very slightly (From neutral to first gear), but the reality was this was a very poor, unacceptable display, from players who have proved they can play to a far higher standard.
(So-called) TEAM: Westwood, Osbourne, Fox, Ward, Dann, Mifsud, Gunnarsson, Beuzelin (Doyle 83), Tabb (Simpson 69), Best (Eastwood 61), Morrison. SNU: Hall, Marshall.
