NOW SAFE! Norwich (Wk 1: Down 2; Wk 2: Up 2): A 2-1 home defeat against WBA was followed by a 3-0 win over next seasons supposed Championship contenders QPR - ensuring Championship football for a side that next term might not include Darren Huckerby, and won't include the retiring Dion Dublin. Final fixture: away to Sheffield Wednesday.
NOW SAFE! Barnsley (Wk 1: Down 2; Wk 2: Up 2): Lost 1-0 at home to Leicester, before hammering Charlton 3-0 at Oakwell - ensuring Championship football for The Tykes next season. Final fixture: away to Cardiff, in a meaningless fixture.
Blackpool (Wk 1: Up 2; Wk 2: Down 2): Claus Jorgensen opened the scoring for 'Pool in their 2-1 home victory against SW, which was followed by a 3-0 hammering away at Plymouth. Two points off third from bottom in the table, with a massively superior goal difference to Southampton though, one more point would see then safe. Final fixture: home to a Watford side on a dismal run of form (One win in thirteen fixtures, against .... Coventry City).
Coventry (Wk 1: Up 4; Wk 2: Down 2): Four points from six on offer still isn't enough to guarantee Championship football (Hammering Colchester 5-1, and drawing 1-1 with Wolves), and, while it will probably take a bizarre series of results to actually relegate us, stranger things have happened. One point will see us safe though. Final fixture: away at nothing to play for (Except for pride - yawn!) Charlton.
Sheffield Wednesday (Wk 1: Down 2; Wk 2: Up 2): Lost 2-1 away to Blackpool (Only their second defeat in fourteen matches), then won away at Leicester. If Coventry lose, a draw would be enough to take Wednesday above us!. Final fixture: home at nothing to play for (Except for pride - yawn!) Norwich.
Leicester (Wk 1: Up 2; Wk 2: Down 1): A lucky 1-0 win away at Barnsley was followed by a dismal three-one deafeat at home to relegation rivals Sheffield Wednesday, with Hume also managing to miss what will hopefully turn out to be a very costly penalty. Final fixture: Stoke away on the final day of the season should be a tough task, but nothing about this seasons Championship has been predictable....
Southampton (Wk 1: Down 2; Wk 2: Down 1): A 1-0 home defeat vesus Burnley left The Saints in big trouble, and had they lost away to WBA, only a minor miracle could have seen them over-take Coventry City. Sadly, goal virgin Lallana chose the match at The Hawthorns to pop his cherry, and only a late Brunt goal stopped them Southampton from being level on points with The Sky Blues. Final fixture: Home to unlikely play-off spot chasers Sheffield United.
RELEGATED! Scunthorpe (No change): Two more games, two wins (Following seven defeats and a draw in eight games, with their last win before that run coming against .... Coventry City, of course) - what a time to find some form! A last minute penalty saw them beat Cardiff at home, while an unlikely 1-0 win away to Watford could see The Hornets drop out of the play-off places, after spending almost the entire season in the top six!
RELEGATED! Colchester (No change): Two more games, two more defeats - and thankfully, one of them against Coventry City! Their final game of the season is away to second bottom Scunthorpe.
